MicroVacation Online Publication
Audience:
St. Paul locals and vacation travelers ages young adults to retirees who are foodies and enjoy antiques and city events
Design Problem:
This work was a student project to execute an online publication specifically designed to meet the needs of a targeted audience. The content, title, images, and interactivity solutions were all selected intentionally to bring specific topics to the attention of that group of people.
Why it works:
Because this project was designed for the specific audience listed above, it worked most effectively to communicate to their needs of article topic choices. The publication is designed in association to the way printed publications are designed with a cover and index pages and the pages are designed with similar color palettes and typographical treatment so the piece feels like a cohesive whole in branding for the MicroVacation publication that I invented. It also incorporates links and scrolling interactivity to behave as the electronic design it has been defined for.
Skills Applied:
Adobe XD and InDesign
Execution:
Using Adobe XD, this publication was designed as a prototype to work for iPad devices specifically. It is a digital piece that creates a close connection to printed publications with the cover, index, and article pages behaving separately from one another.
