Hello, my name is Amanda King and welcome to my online portfolio website.
I received a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design from the University of Maryland in May, 2019. I have experience as both a digital graphic designer with Gartner and as a marketing and branding design coordinator at My Cleaning Service, Inc. in Baltimore, MD. My professional skills include branding, logo design, illustration, copywriting, photo editing, print layout design and marketing communications. My professional work reflect the skills I cultivated at UMD using the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite as well as the work I completed under direction of the Terps Football creative team for a semester-long internship creating digital marketing graphics. The identity that I take with me into the professional world is to express openness towards difference of opinions and to encourage and choose an earthly-sustainable lifestyle.
The things I enjoy the most during my free-time are yoga, cooking, legal TV dramas, finding new music, and traveling—something I would love to do more of. I grew up in Wisconsin, though I currently live on the East Coast in Maryland.
I am a Graphic Designer.
The first love I had was drawing. Graphite will forever be my favorite medium; it led me to pursue art throughout my life and beyond college. Since discovering my interest and passion for graphic design, my goals for post-graduate life has shifted to expand my talents in digital and print design. The versatile programs I use specifically are Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and XD; WordPress, and SquareSpace. I am confident executing projects requiring research, presentation decks, design briefs, photo editing, typography pairing, copywriting, layout, and file manipulation — including using generative AI features with Adobe Creative Cloud. Graphic design is an always evolving field that I will strive to continue educating myself about and would love that perspective to be reflective of my ideal colleagues/employer as well. My longer-term goal is to wake up everyday doing a job I sincerely love and to create honest and fun content for an industry that I am loyal to. I admit that I work best in my own independent role within a close-knit team. I will always be an artist at heart, no matter where my life takes me.
My professional roles.
My professional experience has offered me many opportunities to gain experience in the rewarding field of graphic design.
In my current remote role, I’ve been promoted from associate graphic designer to graphic designer role within the first two years for a global consulting firm: Gartner. The work culture is collaborative, inclusive and socially-vibrant. Every day is a chance to explore new trends in the field of design in a close-knit and healthily-competitive environment. The advantages of working in a big company feature strong organizational structure and high expectations for new challenges while embracing a surrounding team network. I utilize Adobe creative cloud and PowerPoint software to execute digital deliverables for a diverse portfolio of technologically-inclined clients.
Post-graduation, I was hired on as a marketing and branding design coordinator at a facilities company in Baltimore, MD: My Cleaning Service, Inc. Under direct communications with the CEO, I use my graphic design background to execute internal and external communications within the industry and the company to promote the business and share development successes and important news. I was blessed with a large responsibility and with the flexibility and independence in the projects I created there that wouldn’t be matched at a larger-scale company of a larger staff.
Beyond that, I also was hired as a freelance designer for a dear friend/colleague to create digital and print football club logos.
My future goals.
I dream of being an experience graphic designer and artist who has worn many hats. Along my journey, I would like to become a freelance artist. While I am extremely self-sufficient, I would like to pursue work that contributes to society and brings good things into this world. I believe there is always room to grow and challenge one’s self.
